An Honest Review of the Mira Fertility Tracker

If you’re deep in the trying-to-conceive (or trying-not-to) phase, you’ve probably come across the Mira Fertility Tracker in your late-night Google searches. Mira is a smart hormone tracking system that measures key fertility hormones like LH, Estrogen, and PdG using urine samples and a Bluetooth-connected analyzer. It promises lab-level accuracy from the comfort of your bathroom — no more guessing based on vague ovulation test lines or weird app predictions. But does it actually deliver?
I started using Mira during a season when I wanted to better understand my hormone health. First, I used it to track hormone patterns and make sure everything looked normal before trying for a baby. I loved that it didn’t just give me a “yes” or “no” on ovulation — it gave me real numbers and hormone curves over time, and real data I could share with my OB-GYN. I also used it to avoid pregnancy while I wasn't quite ready (natural family planning style), and for this it worked great! We were able to prevent pregnancy, naturally, by avoiding intimacy during my ovulation window (as predicted by Mira) for about 8 months! Later on, when we were ready to try to conceive, I was able to use Mira to pinpoint my actual ovulation window. (This isn't exactly how we conceived, but I know it would have worked if we had tried it this way because of how our conception story turned out. But that's a story for another time.)
For now, I want to be honest with you about the investment associated with Mira. Yes, I said investment, because that's what it is. The Mira Hormone Monitor Max kit is currently selling for $229. It comes with the Mira device and 10 Max wands. The Max wands are great because they measure 3 hormones: LH, Estrogen, and PdG. They're sort of a "do it all" wands. However, those 10 Max wands that come with the starter kit will barely get you through one cycle. The Mira app will tell you when to test for optimal tracking and predictions and while you don't have to test every day, during you ovulation window it's not uncommon for it to ask you to test twice a day. You'll need to plan to buy an additional box of 20 Max wands on a monthly basis. That box costs $89, but in my opinion, it's worth it. Just plan and prepare.
Why is Mira worth the investment?
The hormone insights are way more advanced than any ovulation strips I’ve used. Seeing actual data helped me feel more in control and gave me peace of mind that my body was functioning the way it should. The app is user-friendly and tracks your cycle clearly over time, even offering helpful explanations if you’re not a hormone expert so I didn't have to google everything I didn't understand. I also appreciated how validating it was to see the science behind how I was feeling each cycle — less guessing, more clarity.
Now for the cons.
Again, Mira is an investment. The analyzer isn’t cheap, and the test wands can add up quickly, especially if you’re testing throughout the entire cycle. It also takes nearly 20 minutes to get results, which can be a downside if you’re used to quick pee strips. If you're not into all the data it can feel a little overwhelming at first — like having a mini hormone lab at home. All the numbers or charts can definitely take some getting used to. Lastly, you have to be consistent for it to be worth it. Consistency has to be one of the biggest struggles in my life and the accuracy of Mira predictions depends on it. I was so excited about the product and the data that I made it work, (which means you can too), but I can definitely see how just the thought of having to be consistent can be overwhelming and make it difficult to start.
Overall...
I love my Mira! I've recommended it to friends who've used it to successfully conceive despite challenges like PCOS, (woo hoo!) and my doctor was super appreciative for access to the data. Mira gave me deep insight into my cycle that I never had before and helped me feel empowered whether I was trying to avoid pregnancy, just balance my hormones, or trying to conceive. It’s not for everyone, especially if cost or simplicity are big factors, but for anyone serious about understanding their fertility, Mira is a powerful tool worth considering.
Why did I choose Mira Over Competitors?
I chose Mira over other fertility trackers like Inito, Flow, Kegg, and Natural Cycles because I wanted the most accurate, detailed insight into my hormones. Inito was a close contender, but I found Mira’s app more intuitive and preferred the way it broke down each hormone trend visually over time. Flow felt more like a general period tracker with predictions, but lacked the personalized hormone data I was looking for. Kegg intrigued me, but since it tracks cervical fluid via a wearable, it didn’t feel as comprehensive or practical for my daily routine. Natural Cycles relies on basal body temperature and algorithms, which didn’t feel precise enough for my goals — especially when my sleep and wake times were all over the place thanks to my job and my ADHD.
Mira gave me real-time, lab-like hormone readings I could rely on, and that peace of mind made it the clear winner for me. It's also a pretty cute egg shape which doesn't hurt. :)
